To travel by train you can purchase an e-ticket in the 9292 app or use your OV-chipkaart. You can also use a single-use OV-chipkaart for the train.
With the OV-chipkaart you can pay for public transport. You can credit your card with a balance in euros, or with a travel product such as a season ticket.
Your OV-chipkaart has to be activated for travelling by train, before the first time it is used. One of the reasons is that you have to indicate whether you are travelling first class or second class. This can be don at the self-service ticket machine.
Do you want to discover the Netherlands? That can be done easily, by using the train, bus, metro, tram or ferry. Most bus, tram and metro stations can be found right next to the train station or near the city centre.

You can also buy a single-use OV-chipkaart for the train at the self-service ticket machine.
If you travel up and down the same route on the same day, you have to purchase a return ticket. If you will not return the same day, you need to buy a one-way ticket product. If you visit several places on the same day, you should buy a ticket stating via which destination(s) you will be travelling.
There is a € 1 supplement on the four most commonly used products (single journey, return ticket, day travel cards and the AnaarBeter ticket) to cover the additional costs of the card. You do not pay a supplement for the Railrunner, Dagkaart Fiets, Dagkaart Hond, ICE single journey with supplement, Euregioticket, trains with a supplement on the HSL and tickets to Germany and Belgium.
For children aged 4 to 11. Railrunner can be loaded on an OV-chipcard, and is available as a single-use chipcard. In 1st class children must be accompanied by an adult (at least 18 years old, max. 3 children per adult).
A day travel card for a dog in trains of NS or Arriva.
When you travel with Syntus or Veolia, you don't need a ticket voor your dog.
